AECOtools 1.20

A safety net for starting Revit, AECOtrack for Navisworks that keeps itself up to date, the 2x45° MEP tool, analytics and BCF export in AECOtrack — and a long list of improvements across the tools you use every day.

Version1.20.0
Released8 October 2026
Revit2024, 2025, 2026, 2027
Navisworks2024, 2025, 2026, 2027

Getting the update: close every open Revit window, then start Revit again. AECOtools updates itself as Revit starts — there's nothing to download or install.

A couple of things in this release — the new start-up options and the 2x45° button — arrive with the part of AECOtools that updates one restart later, so restart Revit a second time to have everything. If 2x45° says "runtime session not initialized", that second restart is all it needs.

Setting up a new computer, or want AECOtrack in Navisworks? Download the installer from the AECOtools portal.

Start Revit without AECOtools

Safe start

New

If Revit ever won't start because of an add-in, you can now keep working without calling IT.

  • Hold Shift while Revit starts and AECOtools asks whether to load. Choose Start Revit without AECOtools this time, Turn AECOtools off, or Load AECOtools as normal.
  • If Revit didn't finish starting last time — it crashed, froze or was closed while AECOtools was loading — you're asked the same question automatically.
  • While it's off, the AECOtools tab shows a single Turn AECOtools On button. Press it and restart Revit to have everything back.
  • No admin rights needed, and AECOtools still fetches any fix in the background, so it's ready when you turn it back on.

AECOtrack for Navisworks

Installed with AECOtools, and kept up to date

New
Navisworks › AECOtrack tab
  • The AECOtools installer now adds the AECOtrack tab to Navisworks Manage and Simulate 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 — on computers that have Navisworks. Computers without it are left alone.
  • Navisworks 2025 is supported for the first time.
  • It updates itself, just like AECOtools in Revit: a new version downloads in the background and is ready the next time you open Navisworks.
  • Signed by AECOtech, like the rest of AECOtools — and it will only ever install an update that carries our signature.

Installed AECOtrack for Navisworks by hand before? Run the new installer once to switch to automatic updates.

New tools

2x45°

New
AECOtools › MEP Tools › 2x45°

Replace a 90° fitting with two 45° fittings and a straight piece of the length you choose between them — easier on flow, and the runs either side don't move.

Milestone

New
AECOtools › Forma › Milestone

Capture a controlled milestone in Autodesk Construction Cloud: every Revit model and DWG under a WIP folder is copied into a Milestone folder, with its subfolders mirrored. Cloud models are published first so the copies are current, and running it again updates the copies in place — skipping anything that hasn't changed.

AECOtrack and AECOtwin

Analytics

New

A new Analytics tab in the AECOtrack web portal charts your project: open issues over time, raised versus closed each week, issues by level, status, discipline, priority, age, assignee and author. Click any bar to see exactly those issues in the list. The same charts can go into the PDF report with one tick.

Export to Autodesk Issues (BCF)

New

The ⤓ BCF button exports the issues you're looking at as BCF files ready for Autodesk Construction Cloud's own Import from BCF — so you can hand issues to a client's ACC project without their hub admin setting anything up. Each issue lands on its elements with its marked-up snapshot. Anything ACC can't place, like a sheet issue, is listed with the reason rather than quietly left out.

Issues

  • Search filters as you type, finds an issue by its number, and tells you when your filters are hiding the one you asked for.
  • A before / after slider on the resolution snapshot shows what changed, with the markup kept on the "before".
  • Change an issue's status or priority straight from its card.
  • Sending an issue back to Open or In Progress clears its resolution snapshot.
  • In Revit, Home frames the issue's view on the first click, and reproduces a sheet issue's zoom exactly.

AECOtwin

  • No more signing in every day.
  • Open a project straight from a link.
  • The navigation tree starts collapsed and remembers what you opened.
  • Raise an AECOtrack issue from the Live View you're looking at.
  • Pop-up menus stay on screen.

Improvements

SyncSaver

  • Syncs the model you're working in, and nothing else.
  • Doesn't sync when nothing has been edited.
  • Says why a cloud model open in the background can't be synced, and tries the one you're in first.

Type Legend

Beta
  • Narrow a legend to the types a view filter picks — or tick Invert to leave them out. Refresh Legend keeps the filter it was built with.
  • Membrane notes are placed along the view and line up with the tags beside them.
  • The whole legend is drawn before it's tagged, so notes land on their own row.
  • Uses the house material tag by default.
  • Revit's "save your work" reminder waits until the tool has finished.
  • Fixed: the settings window could freeze on a large model, and a long wall legend could lose its last types.

Elevate Elements

Narrow what it works on with a view filter, or tick Invert to leave those elements out.

In/De-Crement

AECOtools › Annotation › In/De-Crement
  • Stays open while you work, and remembers the parameter you use for each category.
  • Picking a tag picks the element it tags.
  • A numbering sequence covers the whole category, not just one family.
  • Hot Shuffle moves one element and swaps it with its neighbour. Collapse works on one numbering series at a time.
  • The rest of the run only moves along when the number you're placing is already taken.
  • If something can't be done, it tells you why.

ReFlow

Opens on Views when you've selected views first, and the parameter list can be searched.

Batch Tasks

  • Add a whole folder of models at once — cloud or local — with a list of names to skip.
  • Relinking can now find links through Desktop Connector, and says why a link wasn't relinked.
  • A file with elements owned by another user is skipped cleanly and the run moves on to the next one.
  • Warnings about invalid dimension references are dealt with automatically.
  • Clicking a checkbox in the file list ticks only that row.

Planting

Beta

Now brings its own tree families, so placing plants works even on a computer without the office plant library.

AECObank

If your library can't be reached — a network drive that's offline or a slow VPN — the Bank stops waiting after a few seconds and shows Library not found, with the saved location, a Retry button and Change library location…. Revit and the rest of AECOtools carry on as normal.

Super Purge, Align Viewports and the cloud tools

  • Super Purge clears unused arrowheads much faster.
  • Align Viewports lines up schedules on sheets too.
  • The Forma tools' windows stay in front of Revit.

Now free, and out of Beta

Free for everyone

Connect To, Disconnect and the Landscape Converter are now free tools — no licence needed.

Out of Beta

Edit Report, Hub Report, Milestone and the Landscape Converter have been well used and lose their orange Beta corner.

Fixes and reliability

  • Deduplicate no longer deletes tags in schedules. A schedule is now treated as a schedule, not a drawing, so real tags are left alone.
  • Every file is still digitally signed by AECOtech Pty Ltd — now including AECOtrack for Navisworks — so application-control tools such as ThreatLocker approve our publisher once rather than each release.
