Para Control

What it does

Para Control is a parameter manager for Revit. In a project it shows every project parameter — shared or not — as a row, with its type, group, instance or type setting and the categories it's bound to. In the family editor it lists the family's parameters, much like the Family Types dialog. Edit rows in place, stage new parameters, duplicates, renames and deletions, and nothing touches the model until you click Apply.

You can also send the parameter list to Excel and bring edits back in, and check loaded tags and titleblocks for shared parameters the project is missing. It's a quick way for BIM managers to audit and tidy parameters, and for anyone to stop wrestling with Revit's one-at-a-time dialogs.

Before you start

• Revit 2024–2027. Para Control is free — it works whether or not you have an AECOtools seat.
• Open a project or a family. The tool adapts to whichever document is active.
• To add parameters from your company shared parameter file, make sure Revit's shared parameter file is set (you can also pick it from inside the tool).

Quick start

1. Open the project or family and click Utils ▸ Para Control.
2. Use the filter drop-down and Search box to find the parameters you want.
3. Edit cells directly — Group Under, Instance/Type, or Edit… in Categories. Changed rows are highlighted.
4. Tick rows and use Add Parameter, Duplicate, Rename… or Delete to stage more changes.
5. Click Apply, read the summary and any warnings, and confirm.
6. The grid refreshes from the model. Click Close when you're done.
