Ceiling Services

What it does

Ceiling Services lays out and coordinates ceiling services room by room. Select your rooms or MEP spaces, choose the families you want for each service, and the tool works out how many are needed, spreads them evenly, lines them up with the ceiling, moves apart anything that clashes and can tag the result — all in one click.

It's built for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fire services designers who want a fast, consistent first-pass layout on large floor plates, and a quick way to tidy up services that are already in the model.

Before you start

• Revit 2024, 2025, 2026 or 2027.
• An active AECOtools seat or trial — Ceiling Services is included with a seat.
• Placed, bounded rooms or MEP spaces in the current model, with ceilings modelled over them (in the model or a loaded link).
• A family loaded for each service you want to place, plus tag types if you want tags.
• For diffuser layouts, supply airflow set on your spaces.
• A floor plan or ceiling plan open, so tags land in the right view.

Quick start

1. In a plan view, select the rooms or MEP spaces to fill, then go to MEP Tools ▸ MEP+ and click Ceiling Services.
2. Tick Place for each service you want and pick the family type in the Selection column.
3. Check the values for each service, and tick Tag with a tag type for anything you want tagged.
4. Click Place. Everything ticked is placed, coordinated and tagged.
5. Review the layout. To tidy up services that are already there, select the rooms and click Coordinate instead.
6. Click Save Config to keep your setup for next time.
