What it does
AECOtransmit looks at a folder of issued drawings — PDFs, DWGs, DGNs and more — reads the drawing number, title and revision from each filename, and builds a cumulative document transmittal register in your company's Excel template. Each issue adds a new dated column, so the register always shows the complete revision history of every drawing. A print-ready PDF of the transmittal is written alongside the workbook.
It's for architects, document controllers and BIM managers who are tired of transmittal spreadsheets drifting out of sync or losing history when someone edits the wrong cell. Launch it from the Utils panel in Revit, or run it on its own as a desktop app.
Highlights
- Reads drawing numbers, titles and revisions straight from your filenames
- Writes into your own Excel template — your logo, formatting and layout stay intact
- Full issue history kept, with a new dated column for every issue
- Print-ready PDF of the transmittal alongside the workbook
- One row per drawing, even when issued in several formats
- Distribution list with per-issue recipients and copy counts
- Reusable projects — pick the project, point at the new folder, build
- A register file carries its project with it, so colleagues can pick up where you left off
- Share a company master template so everyone starts with the same setup
- Preview the register before you commit an issue
Before you start
- An AECOtools seat. Open AECOtransmit from the Utils panel in Revit 2024–2027, or run it as a desktop app.
- Your company's transmittal template in Excel — or load the company master template if one has been shared.
- A folder containing the drawing files for this issue.
- Microsoft Excel on the computer if you want the PDF copy of the transmittal.
Quick start
- Click New Project, choose where registers should be saved and name the project.
- Check the Template Workbook — use your own template or click Load Master for the company master.
- Fill in Project Name, Project No. and Sender.
- Browse to the Issue Folder and set the Issue Title, Date, Reason, Format and Method.
- Click Scan Folder and review the drawing list.
- Click Create / Update Register. The register and its PDF are saved into the issue folder.
Tips
For the next issue, just pick the project from Saved Project, browse to the new issue folder, scan and build — nothing needs retyping, and changes save automatically.
Any files flagged in the scan list couldn't be read from their filename. Check them before building — renaming to your office's standard drawing-number format usually sorts it out.
Set up your Distribution… list once. Untick anyone who shouldn't receive a particular issue — they stay on the list for next time.
