What it does

AECObank is a content browser that docks right inside Revit. The Library shows your firm's shared content as tiles with previews and at-a-glance quality indicators, while The Project shows what's already loaded in the model you're working on. From the same panel you can load and place families, bring in system family types, drafting views and schedules from library files, reuse model groups and materials, and load whole collections of content in one go.

It's for architects who want to find the right content quickly, and for BIM managers who need to know what's in the library, which versions are current and whether families meet company standards. A Library Scan keeps the library healthy by recording quality information, creating clean previews and optionally tidying families up.

Before you start

  • Revit 2024, 2025, 2026 or 2027 with an AECOtools seat.
  • Access to your company's content library (usually a shared network or cloud-synced folder).
  • Open a project to load and place content. With no model open, you can still browse and look after the library.

Quick start

  1. Open a project and click Library on the AECObank panel. Dock or float the panel wherever suits you.
  2. Go to The Library and, the first time, click Choose folder… to point it at your company library.
  3. Pick a folder in the tree, or type in the search box to find content.
  4. Click Place on a tile to load and start placing, or Load to load only. Tick several tiles and use Load Selected for a batch.
  5. Switch to The Project to see what's loaded, re-place content or reload newer library versions.

Tips

Run a Library Scan from Settings before rolling AECObank out to the team — it fills in the quality indicators and previews that make browsing so much faster.

Trying a scan for the first time? Start with Scan Current Folder… and leave the clean-up options unticked, so you can review the results before any families are changed.

Build collections for common setups — say a residential kitchen or a standard amenities fit-out — so anyone can load the right content in one step.
